TWSBI: The Pen to Add to Your Collection

TWSBI: The Pen to Add to Your Collection, Blesket Canada

TWSBI is a brand every fountain pen buff has heard of, especially in connection with piston-filled pens. Well-known for their extremely reasonable prices, most people who own a TWSBI pen have only good things to say about them. In the world of fountain pens, where you’ll find manufacturers (like Cross, for example) still in the business after 175 years, TWSBI is brand-new (ish). Read on to learn all about the brand and why a TWSBI pen is a must-have for your collection.

How Do You Pronounce TWSBI?

When faced with a whole bunch of consonants in a row, one’s first instinct is to spell it out “T-W-S-B-I” or maybe try another variation along the lines of “T-W-S-Bi”. Instead of tripping over letters, TWSBI is simply pronounced twizz-bee.

Decades of Manufacturing Expertise

Although, the brand was only founded in 2009 by Ta Shin Precision, the Taiwanese father company has decades of manufacturing experience. Ta Shin Precision has over 50 years of experience as an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manufacturing various products with plastics and metals for brands across the globe. It’s no wonder that TWSBI produces high-quality and innovative fountain pens at an affordable price.

What TWSBI Means

Everything about TWSBI is carefully crafted, including the name. TWSBI's name stands for the phrase "Hall of Three Cultures" or "San Wen Tong" in Chinese. The character "Wen" translates into language and culture. The phrase "San Wen Tong" also recalls the Hall of the Three Rare Treasures, created by Emperor Qianlong as a memorial to three great masterpieces of Chinese calligraphy. The initials of the phrase "San Wen Tong" was reversed and thus turned into "TWS." The last letters, "Bi," was added with its literal meaning of "writing instruments." When put together, the name honours the art of Chinese calligraphy and admires the beauty of precision writing instruments.

What We Love About TWSBI Pens

TWSBI is a brand that values quality, innovation, and passion for writing. This is seen in several aspects of their pens.

  • Quality of the Materials and Build: TWSBI pens have excellent cap seals that keep the nibs wet and ready to write. Reliable German nibs along with durable, scratch resistant plastics, resins, and metals make these pens great additions to any collection.
  • Aesthetics: TWSBI makes good looking pens. Period. The range of colours makes it easy to pick a pen to match your style.
  • Value for Money: The manufacturing background of the founding company has led to the pens being affordable but of a quality you’ll find in much more expensive pens.
  • User Friendliness: Many fountain pen brands assume you know what you are doing. TWSBI was one of the first brands to explain their pens in great detail to their clientele and provide the tools and instructions for maintaining them.
