Anywhere from under $10 to well over $1,000. A Platinum Preppy costs less than $10, and popular first pens such as the Pilot Kakuno, Pilot Metropolitan and Lamy Safari are all under $40. TWSBI and Monteverde pens run from about $30 to $190, while flagship and limited-edition pens from Pelikan, Visconti, Pilot and Platinum go past $1,000. Most of the fountain pens we carry cost $200 or less.

Start with something forgiving and affordable. We usually suggest the Pilot Kakuno, Pilot Metropolitan or Lamy Safari, all under $40. The Kakuno's smiling nib shows you which way up to hold it, the Metropolitan has a metal body and comes with a converter for bottled ink, and the Safari's moulded grip guides your fingers into place. Extra fine (EF) and fine (F) suit small handwriting, planners and thinner paper. Medium (M) is a comfortable everyday choice, and broad (B) shows off ink colour and shading. Japanese nibs from Pilot, Platinum and Sailor write about one size finer than European nibs from Lamy, Pelikan and Kaweco, so a Japanese fine is close to a European extra fine. Yes, and that is a big part of their appeal. Cartridges are the simplest option: Lamy, Pilot, Platinum and Sailor each use their own, while many other brands take standard international cartridges. A converter replaces the cartridge so you can fill from a bottle, and piston fillers such as the TWSBI Eco draw ink straight from the bottle. We stock cartridges and converters, including a universal converter, and hundreds of bottled fountain pen ink colours from Diamine, Pilot Iroshizuku, Wearingeul, KWZ and J. Herbin.

Yes. Blesket is an authorized Canadian dealer for Lamy, Pilot, TWSBI, Pelikan, Sailor, Kaweco and Platinum, among others. Our pens come from the makers or their authorized Canadian distributors, never from grey-market resellers, so each one is genuine and carries the manufacturer's warranty.

Yes. Orders over $55 ship free in Ontario and Quebec (otherwise $10), and orders over $99 ship free to the other provinces (otherwise $14.50). Rates for Yukon, Nunavut and the Northwest Territories are calculated at checkout. Small items such as converters, nibs and refills can go by small mailer for $3, without tracking. Everything ships from Brampton, so Canadian orders pay no customs duties, and you can choose free pickup at our store at checkout. Our shipping page lists carriers and express rates.

Yes. Our store is at 284 Orenda Rd, Unit 5, Brampton, ON L6T 5S3, northwest of Toronto. Come in, try different pens and nib sizes, and we will help you find the one that suits your writing. We are open Tuesday to Friday from 11 AM to 6 PM and Saturday from 11 AM to 4 PM, and closed on Sunday, Monday and statutory holidays. Walk-ins are welcome.
