What is washi tape?

Washi tape is a decorative masking tape made from Japanese washi paper. It is thin, slightly translucent and low-tack, so it tears by hand and can be lifted and repositioned without damaging the surface underneath.

Is washi tape the same as masking tape?

They work the same way, but washi tape is made from washi paper rather than crepe paper, so it is thinner, takes printed designs more sharply and peels away more cleanly. Several of the tapes on this page are sold under the name masking tape.

Will washi tape damage my notebook or planner pages?

Not in normal use. Washi tape is low-tack and designed to be removed, which is why it suits planners, journals and scrapbooks. On very thin or coated paper, press lightly and test on a back page first.

Do you ship washi tape across Canada?
