The first Pelikan Souverän models with a black and blue striped sleeve were introduced to the product line in 1995. The manufacturing process for the sleeve is highly complex, as the specially developed cotton material undergoes multiple production steps to create the striped design. The material is carefully bent, smoothed, and diamond-cut to achieve the desired effect. The distinct double clips on the barrel and cap, integrated with precision, create a seamless transition between materials. After being polished to a high sheen, the writing instrument is fitted with the iconic, stylized Pelikan clip with a slightly springy design. This piston filler has a gold-plated design, a striped celluloid acetate body, and a 14kt gold nib with rhodium decor. The mechanism utilizes high-quality brass components on the M800 model.
