Midori Notebooks, Planners and MD Paper

Midori is the Japanese stationery brand of Designphil Inc. in Tokyo. Its MD Notebook, launched in January 2008, has pages and a cover of MD Paper and is thread-sewn so it opens 180 degrees flat. Since January 2026 the MD Notebook has been sold under Designphil's MD PRODUCT brand.

They come from the same company, Designphil Inc. Midori developed MD Paper in the 1960s as its own diary paper (MD stands for Midori Diary) and sold MD Notebooks under the Midori name from 2008. In January 2026 Designphil made MD PRODUCT a brand of its own, so MD Notebooks are now sold under that name, while Midori continues with diaries such as hibino and with desk accessories.

The MD Notebook A6 measures 105 x 148 mm, known as pocket edition size, and has 176 pages. For comparison, the A7 is 74 x 105 mm, the B6 slim 105 x 175 mm and the A5 148 x 210 mm. Diaries can differ from notebooks of the same nominal size: the hibino A6 diary measures 115 x 152 mm.
