Kakimori Metal Nib - Copper

$74.50

The Kakimori Metal Nib – Copper is a beautifully engineered writing tip that evolves with time and use — a piece that truly lets you see and feel the art of writing age gracefully. Crafted from pure copper, this precision-made nib develops a unique patina as it interacts with air and ink, making every writer’s experience distinct. Designed by Yamazaki Hayato of ALLOY (Kuramae, Tokyo), it delivers a remarkably smooth writing feel you wouldn’t believe is metal. Depending on the angle of the pen, you can easily adjust the width and character of your lines — from delicate strokes to bold sweeps. Artists and calligraphers will appreciate the ability to vary line weight, pressure, and ink density for expressive writing and drawing.

Usage and Care

  • Angle: Hold at approximately 45° for optimal ink flow.
  • Installation: When inserting, rotate the nib fully into the pen body. To remove, twist and pull slowly to avoid damaging the precision joint.
  • Initial use: A thin layer of oil may remain on the surface; if ink doesn’t flow immediately, rinse with water and reapply ink. Flow improves with continued use.
  • Cleaning: Wash regularly with water to prevent ink from drying in the grooves. If residue builds up, gently scrub with a soft toothbrush and rinse. Use only neutral detergent if necessary — avoid alkaline cleaners.
  • Maintenance: As the copper ages, it will develop a natural patina. Over time, the nib becomes smoother, and line quality grows richer.

Compatibility

Compatible with Kakimori pen holders and most standard dip pen barrels from other manufacturers.
For the best performance, we recommend pairing it with Kakimori or Inkstand pigment inks.
