This collection honors the 80th anniversary of the war’s end on September 2, 1945. The Dakota aircraft was key during significant moments, particularly on D-Day, June 6, 1944. It was essential to the success of Operation Overlord—the Allied invasion of Normandy—by transporting thousands of paratroopers from the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions and delivering critical supplies and equipment to frontline forces.
