Tom's Studio One-Dip-Nib - Brass Nib Only
The One-Dip-Nib is a highly versatile brass dip nib designed for illustrators and calligraphers who want expressive line variation and extended drawing time from a single dip. The adjustable thumb screw allows you to move between fine lines and bold, juicy strokes, while changing the angle to the page creates further variation. A built-in ink reservoir holds a generous amount of ink, letting you draw for longer without frequent re-dipping.
Brass is a softer material than steel, giving a smoother feel on paper and a wider contrast between thin and thick strokes, making it ideal for fluid, expressive mark-making. This nib works with straight calligraphy pen holders only and slots directly into the top of the pen. It is not compatible with oblique pen holders.
To use, dip the nib into ink until just before the ink reaches the thumb screw, then hold it in the ink for around 10–15 seconds to allow the reservoir to fully saturate. The nib is hand-finished to reduce scratchiness while retaining a fine “bite” on the page. If you prefer an even smoother feel, it can be lightly sanded using the included sandpaper.
Compatible with most inks, including pigment, shimmer, iridescent, watercolour, acrylic, and Indian ink. Easy to clean with no risk of clogging.
