This collection commemorates the 80th anniversary of the war’s conclusion on September 2, 1945. The Dakota was critical during key moments of WWII, particularly on D-Day, June 6, 1944. During this decisive operation, the C-47 Skytrain was essential to Operation Overlord, the Allied invasion of Normandy, transporting thousands of paratroopers from the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions and delivering crucial supplies to the front lines.
